The Anniversary Concert of the Ensemble Lojze Slak

My dear friends and very honoured guests!

The sixth of the November was a particularly beautiful day for us this year. We gathered with many Slovenian folk music fans in Tivoli Hala and celebrated the 40th Jubilee anniversary of the Lojze Slak ensemble. We were very happy and honoured that you accepted our invitation and took part in this unique and memorable event which will forever remain a wonderful memory. We truly believe that your assistance helped us to promote and experience Slovenian domestic music and all it’s beauty over the last 40 years.

Anniversary concert at the 40th Jubilee of the Lojze Slak Ensemble (Hala Tivoli, Ljubljana)

The Song Book has been released. The Book of songs contains all the words of the songs of the Lojze Slak Ensemble. Many were written by well known Slovenian poets, and include all the songs written and arranged by Lojze Slak.

The book entitled "En godec nam gode" (The entertainer entertains) has been released. Mr. Ivan Sivec presents the life story of the one of the greatest Slovenian domestic musicians in a very sensitive biographic way, from his childhood in the birth town called Mirna Peč up to his arrival in the capital city of Ljubljana, where he founded the ensemble known as the Ensemble of Lojze Slak. This name is synonymous with the beautiful Slovenian domestic music known all over the world.

Recently published CD "Zlate melodije ansambla Lojzeta Slaka", (Golden songs of the Lojze Slak Ensemble), containing a selection of the most beautiful melodies for which the ensemble was known for from their start in 1964 until today, with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the ensemble.

New DVD "V dolini tihi"has been released (In the quiet valley) a documentary of Lojze Slak and his ensemble. The DVD contains original footage from appearances of the ensemble in Slovenia and abroad (USA; Canada,…) Included are clips from the well known musical series »See what a Dolenc does«. The show is now an annual tradition, prepared on behalf of the Lojze Slak ensemble, featuring the Dolenjska region with various musicians taking part in it. The DVD also contains beautiful videos made by the Ensemble of Lojze Slak.
